Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: name, email, password (stored securely by our login provider), phone number, and ZIP code.
• Students: profile photo, major, graduation year, bio, experience, availability, and a photo of your BYU student ID.
• Jobs: job details, photos you upload, and the street address.
• Activity: quotes, messages, reviews, cancellations, and reports of problems.

Who can see what

• Before a booking, others see only your first name and last initial, your photo (students), and your rating. Customers see a job's city and ZIP, never the street address.
• When a customer accepts a quote, that customer and that student see each other's full name and phone number, and the student sees the address.
• Student ID photos are visible only to the Cougar Hire admin, to confirm you're a current student.
• Reviews appear on profiles. Job photos can be viewed by anyone with the link.
• Messages are scanned automatically before a booking to stop sharing of contact details; blocked messages are kept for our review.
• The Cougar Hire admin can see all account and job information to run the service and handle problems.

Service providers

We use Supabase (database, login, file storage), Resend (email), and Vercel (hosting) to run Cougar Hire. They process data on our behalf. We don't sell your information and we don't use advertising trackers.

Emails

We send emails about your account and jobs (quotes, bookings, messages, reminders). These are part of the service.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your information while your account is open and as needed for safety, disputes, and legal requirements. To close your account or request a copy or deletion of your data, contact [support email, to be added before launch].
